Day 12 – July 6, 2011
Sierra’s morning started with an 8:45 a.m. two tank dive. The truck picked everyone up and took them to Hodges Creek where they could easily get to a new dive location. At around 1:30 p.m., everyone returned for a lunch prepared by Tommy and Laurie. They had a juicy watermelon and macaroni and cheese to fill their tummies.
Once lunch was cleaned up Laurie and Graham had a surprise for the group, Challenge day! With Leslie on the helm, Sierra had to work as a group to move us from Trellis Bay to Monkey Point with very little assistance. Xanthe navigated with help from Chapman and the rest of the crew dropped the ball and spotted for Leslie. There was a bit of panic among the group but they did an amazing job!
Once we arrived at Monkey Point, we had to work as a group to pick up the mooring ball to get us secured. After a few failed attempts, we were safely attached and ready for a very relaxing evening. Laurie allowed Sierra to have the next few hours to do what ever they wanted to. Some people went snorkeling, some read, some listened to music and a few surfed the web for information on their research topic. At 6:30 p.m., Xanthe and Meg started dinner. They made a delicious meal of chicken stir fry and impressed everyone. After dinner Sierra went their separate ways and curled up in bed. It was much needed relaxation time for Sierra!
