Last night, We sailed through the night (Over 50 nautical miles!) from Nevis to St. Barths. Everyone was excited to get underway, and amazed by the feeling of sailing in the dark. Once we had raised sails, we began our rotations, so that everyone could take turns being awake for the duration of the sail. We arrived to St. Barths this morning with an orange sunrise over the water. We then anchored just outside of the port of Gustavia to get some more sleep. After a few hours of cat nap, we ate breakfast and headed in to Gustavia and docked.
We then packed lunches and headed to Airport beach via the ultimate surprise: Staff rented jeeps and took everyone on tours of the island! Everyone loved the tours, and when they weren’t out exploring the island by jeep, they explored different beaches. It was a good relaxing day to have after such a long night sail.
We headed back to boats early so that everyone could take fresh water showers on docks before they closed. We ended the day by going out to dinner at “Le Select,” the restaurant that claims to have been the inspiration for Jimmy Buffet’s “Cheeseburger in Paradise.” We then headed back to boats for an early boat meeting and an early bedtime.
