This morning the crews awoke early for their first dive of the program. After a quick breakfast of bagels and cream cheese, the divers were shuttled over to meet the Sail Caribbean Dive boat and head out on their adventure. The first destination was Diamond Reef and Dip N Scrub was their second tank. While still at Trellis, the non-divers went on the search for some turtles to tag, but once again were just out of reach. However they got close enough to a huge green sea turtle and Aileen and Lara named it Fern Gully. When the divers returned the crews had lunch and prepared for a nice leisurely sail to Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda. Geneve’s skipper of the day was Ron, and he led the crew there with two reefs in the sail. On DaVinci, Lizzy, Cristian, and Christina all took turns at the helm before reaching their destination. On Berlin, Sam, Alaina, Kelsey, Kate, Rachel and Pablo all worked together to drop anchor. The serenity of Mountain point is always a favorite and the sunset over the Dogs is phenomenal. After all the crews were secure on their anchor, it was prep time for the Chili Cookoff! A Sail Caribbean tradition, the Chileans fly in to judge each crew on their theme, presentation, and taste of the crew’s Chili. DaVinvi welcomed the Chileans onto the Black Pearl for the wedding of Elizabeth Swan and Will Turner. Geneve had a dance party rave that the Chileans found their groove at and Berlin had Christmas in (almost) July and created a ‘swinter’ wonderland. The Chileans enjoyed themselves very much and loved their trip to the Caribbean once again this summer.
