Day 3 – June 28, 2011 Simpson Bay
Today was a mellow day for Delta 1. The boat stayed in Simpson Bay, enabling us to stock up on some final provisions and gear from the BVI. The morning was spent having lessons before we all packed up and went to the beach. The crew on Full Deck was excited for their final arrival, Matthew, who arrived from New York excited to get out on the boat. Captain of the day on Full Deck was Chloe, and Nathan had a fun time plotting way points on the GPS. Everyone was excited for the possibilities and adventures that lay ahead of us the rest of the trip!
Day 4 – June 29, 2011 Simpson Bay to Marigot Bay
Today was a wonderful sail as we navigated our way around the western most point of St Martin. On Full Deck, the crew did a 15 sec tack with Maddie on the helm as our amazing skipper of the day. Arriving in Marigot bay, we all gathered around for some down time and a tuna salad lunch. It was Nathan’s birthday today, and the crew on both boats vowed to sing 16 spontaneous happy birthday songs!!! Making for a comical afternoon! After lunch, we all went ashore to Skype home before exploring the shops of Marigot. After time in town, we hiked to the top of the abandon ruin of Fort Louis that overlooks all of St. Maarten and the surrounding sea. While we were there, Katie and Hannah broke out the ultimate surprise…..a double layer brownie vanilla cake with chocolate frosting!!! It was amazing. We all enjoyed our cake surprise and the spectacular view for as long as we could. All in all, it was another fantastic day!
