We awoke at a leisurely pace on our dock in Gustavia, St. Barts. We were right on the board walk and not 50 yards away from the high-end shops like Giorgio Armani. After breakfast and a quick boat meeting, we had the morning free to explore the area. Not more than a 10 minute walk was Shell Beach, a lovely little protected cove, great for swimming. We had delicious lunch of pita pizzas prepared by John Hall and Frazier. After some more free time in the afternoon, we all met back at the boat to prepare for our long night sail back to the BVI. We worked together to be sure that everything was secured and stowed and ginger candy was close at hand. After a final fuel up, we departed. We sailed toward the sunset as we ate dinner. It was a clear night, and we pulled back the bimney to sail under the stars. It was a straight shot down wind. Night watch rotations started at 9:00, and the first crew took their positions as everyone else headed to sleep to get some rest before their shifts. By 2:00am there was no sight of land in any direction.
