Goodbyes are always the hardest part and this morning was no exception. We all got up early to wave goodbye to Mike, Larkin, Emily and Jess as they loaded up to catch the ferry before arriving at the airport. (Luke, Cait and Dave are sticking around for the summer and will return home in August.) We all stayed up until the wee hours of the morning retelling stories, laughing and writing plane letters and now the moment was finally upon us no matter how much we dragged our feet. Mike left first and then the girls a few minutes later and it was really sad to see them go.
We have become close the last couple of weeks and it feels nearly impossible to continue without each other. Who will brave the galley in the middle of the night to make more coffee for everyone if not Larkin? Who will matter of factly tell us the daily fact about New York if not Jess? Who will keep the bucket safely onboard if Emily isn’t here? Someone has to take care of and protect the dinghy so we need Mike. How will we continue without the infectious laughter of Mo? Dave, Luke, Claire, Steff and I all agree that no matter how amazing the rest of the summer is, it can’t match the last couple of weeks when we were all together on the high seas (they said it could be done, but we did it!). We are all on to the next adventure but we won’t forget the friends and memories we made along the way.
