Foxtrot 2 Trip Update Day 18 – Betsy, Fleet Captain
Day 18 started early with a morning SCUBA dive. While the divers were away, the non-diving students spent the morning snorkeling and trying out speed snorkeling behind the dinghy. After hanging out with a turtle or two, it was back to boats to bask on the bow and play a few card games before the divers returned. Once the dive boat was empty and each boat’s crew complete once more, the we dropped our mooring balls and the Foxtrot fleet headed where we really belong – open water! The start of the sail was a little grey, but that didn’t get anyone down. Each boat had a blast forging through the rain and wind. After reaching our destination of Cooper Island Beach Club and drying off, everyone had a bit of hot chocolate to warm up and then the two crews began plotting for the world renowned Sail Caribbean Chili Cook-off! Each team worked together to create a special homemade chili dinner presented with a full-blown elaborate theme. The boats decorated their cockpit with sheets, glowsticks, fabulous drawings, and other creative things. The guest judges (Mike’s friends from Chile) thoroughly enjoyed meeting and having dinner with all of the Foxies. Once they had their fill, the guests headed back to land and the boats headed to bed, ready for whatever adventures the next day might hold.
