Alpha 3 Day 4 Trip Update – Katelynn, Fleet Captain
We kicked off day four with a nice sail from Marina Cay to the Dogs, which are small islands in between Tortola and Virgin Gorda. It was a beautiful, exciting upwind sail!
During the sail, we learned about Points of Sail, Parts of Sail, Navigation, and worked on our tacking skills. On Persephone, Matt anchored us at George Dog, and Helen guided Isle of Skye through a mooring ball pickup. After feasting on a delicious pasta salad, we relaxed on the boats and took in the beauty of the Dogs. Sadly we were not able to get in and snorkel the Dogs, but instead stayed on the boat and learned about knots and played a fun game of cards.
Around mid afternoon, we left the Dogs to head towards our final destination, Bitter End Yacht Club. We again had a really fun upwind sail and had a blast sitting up on the beam of the boat and getting splashed by our waves. When we arrived at Bitter End, both Persephone and Isle of Skye picked up the mooring ball on their first try with very little help! Excited by the sight of the extremely clear water, everyone jumped in to enjoy a quick swim and showers.
The chefs of the night worked away in the galley for the next hour, grilling up a delicious dinner of Mahi-Mahi, rice, and broccoli. Everybody cleaned up quickly so they could head ashore for some virgin drinks and social time between the two boats. After putting in some quality time ashore, we went back to the boats to hit the sack after an exciting day.
