Charlie 2 Trip Update Day 2 – Elizabeth B., Student

The day started with an awakening around 6 a.m. by the roosters at Hodges Creek Marina. We were all well rested and anxious to get off docks. Before we could do that we had to have a couple lessons about safety, boat info, and de-docking. I was at the helm for de-docking, and the entire team worked together to help us get off without hitch!  Cooper Island was our destination, and Andrew was our navigator; we were the Charlie boat to get our main and jib sails raised. After a couple attempts to moor at Manchonieel Bay we were finally successful. We quickly gathered our gear and headed to the dive boats. Everyone got to SCUBA dive and had a tremendous time in the depths near Thumb Rock. We counted creatures like octopi, barracuda (spotted by Lucas), and even a 4 ft. long nurse shark spotted by Chad. After diving, we took showers, prepared dinner, and waited for the exciting arrival of Hannah! Dinner was prepared by Sara and Jake — the burritos were delicious especially after the long day. Luckly tonight we had dinner and a show put on by Jon and Chad, who performed the famous one hit wonder “Burrito, Swag.” While cleaning up Hannah arrived just in time for our nightly boat meeting, then it was off to bed for a good night’s sleep!
