Sierra 2 Trip Update Day 2 – Graham, Program Director

Today is what some to consider to be the true start of the program. We left the docks after preparing our lunch and learning how to de-dock a boat. This morning was fast paced, learning about all the different parts of a boat and how everything works. After we left the dock around noon, we headed for The Bight on Norman Island. During the sail we ate the lunch that we had prepared and set the gennaker, one of the larger sails. We arrived in the mooring field just at 2:30 p.m., right on time!

After a long morning, we all jumped in the water and had a swim before divers were off to dive. Those not in the open water course went on a beautiful snorkel along the fringing reef next to the mooring field. when the divers all returned we showered and made a burrito dinner, had a boat meeting in which we started to talk about the local fish that are in the area, and then headed off to bed. We are all excited to sleep under the stars, at sea for the first time!
