Bravo 1 Trip Update Day 19 – Luke, Mate
Today was a long but extremely fun day. Early in the morning staff woke up at 6:00 a.m. to motor the boats over to the Baths on Virgin Gorda so the fleet could secure mooring balls before the crowds arrived. At 7:30 a.m. everyone arose to spend a leisurely morning making breakfast and getting ready for a day at this beautiful, boulder-strewn bay. The day onshore began with Sail Caribbean’s traditional “hikel”, in which students hike through the granite grottos and caves, then snorkel back to where they started. We all enjoyed the hike, and Adam, Josh, and Nick took some fun posed photos on top of the rocks before the snorkel portion of the hike. After hiking a short ways we reached Devils Bay, where we donned our snorkel gear and went for a quick and fun snorkel led by our Fleet Captain, Jeff. After the snorkel we ended up at Jump Rock, where all the girls and guys got some photo opportunities with cannon balls and line jump photos off this 15 foot tall boulder. After leaping off into the water several times most of us swam over to Spring Bay for some hamburgers and hot dogs. After the delicious BBQ, we returned to boats to prep for our short yet memorable night sale. While under sail we watched the starry night sky pass overhead, and enjoyed telling 2 minute life stories and appreciations. Nick led us into the mooring field at Great Harbor, were we circled around and finally moored up. Maddie, Izzy, Ali, and Elena broke out some pretzels and nutella for everyone to enjoy as a post-sail snack before we settled into our bunks, content from a day well spent, drifting off to the sound of rain pattering on the decks.
