Alpha 2 Trip Update Day 6 – Elise, Program Director
Today the crew of Alpha woke up for a sunrise hike to the top of Norman Island. Talk about an adventure –everyone was out of their bunks at 4:45 a.m. to race the sun rise! The crew watched the clouds turn pink, gold, orange and then fade into a clear bright blue as the day begun. Afterwards everyone headed back for a sleep in day! Then we all crossed the Sir Francis Channel to dock for our first time at Nanny Cay. Coming in we saw all the teams practicing for the Premier’s Cup! Teams from all of the Caribbean Islands come to race right outside of Nanny Cay and there is even a Sail Caribbean team in the race! Jack T. did a fantastic docking on Persephone and smoothly drove our 50 ft. boat right into the slip. On Isle of Skye, Lexi did an amazing docking as well in lots of wind and got the boat perfectly on the dock right before a squall hit. It was very exciting! Once on docks, the crew headed out to enjoy the restaurant, shops, showers, and marina. Everyone ended their day playing team-building games on the beach and enjoying drinks and music. It was a great day at docks for the Alpha crew.
