Alpha 2 Trip Update Day 3 – Elise, Program Director
The sun rose bright and shining over Great Harbor, Peter Island, as the crew of Alpha awoke to their first morning on the water. We started off the day with a round of water sports, with Hunter trying out the water skis and Jack T. standing up on a wake board for the first time! Everyone tried out a big tube called the banana boat and it was great fun. Afterwards we started off on our sail. The skipper of the day on Isle of Skye was Isabelle, who led the crew through sail raising and started us on our course through the Sir Francis Drake Channel. After a day of perfect wind and some tacking and sailing lessons, the crew found their way to Marina Cay. During showers, Will even caught a moon jelly with a bucket! Since moon jellies don’t sting, everyone on the crew of Isle of Skye had a chance to get an up-close look at the jellyfish before we dumped him back in the ocean. It was so cool! The whole crew of Alpha then finished the night on shore socializing, enjoying cold drinks, and playing games. The crews of both boats got to know each other better and had a great time playing around. Once back on the boats, everyone was tuckered out after a full day of sun, fun, and sailing.
