Delta 1 Trip Update Day 16 – Kieran, Program Director
This morning we woke up to a breakfast of croissants and pain au chocolat before setting sail for the island of Tintimarre. It was a smooth beam/ broad reach of a sail and we were welcomed to the island by a trio of Hawksbill turtles, one of which was little more than the size of a dinner plate! We ate a quick lunch before heading to the beach for a full afternoon of Olympics: our Sail Caribbean tradition in which the two boats compete in the fender relay, tug-o-war, sand art (bury your staff captains!), and of course, synchronized swimming!
Patricia J dominated in the competition. The girls put up a hefty battle in all of the events, though the boys might have taken the prize in the synchronized swimming. Finally, we headed back to boats and motored down to Marigot Bay where we anchored, began showering and packing up our gear, and making sure our boats were clean. The last couple days have flown by, and it seemed like the time to pack up had snuck up on us.
Finally, we headed ashore for an evening of pizza in the French Quarter, and some fun skits in which students made fun of staff, and vice versa. Always a fun time! We then dinghied back to boats for any last minute packing, as well as the inevitable writing “airplane letters” to one another, as we fly home tomorrow!
