Foxtrot 1 Trip Update Day 18 – Shandy, Mate
What a day of adventure! Students enjoyed snorkeling at the Dog Islands, where they saw a school of squid, some jellyfish, giant parrotfish, a giant tarpin, and as always some beautiful hard and soft corals. After completing their deep water and navigation dives this afternoon, the divers became Advanced Open Water certified SCUBA divers today as well. They are ecstatic to receive their new certification, and everyone was tired from a busy day in the water.
After the snorkel it was time to move the boats over to Monkey Point anchorage for the evening and the highlight of everyone’s day…Chili Cook-Off! The two boats competed for who could whip up the tastiest chili, with judging categories including things like presentation, plop, and overall boat theme. The crews cooked and attempted to impress the Chileans with hilarious skits and superb dish presentation. The Da Vinci crew were savages who sacrificed to the Chili God (who in fact lives in the fo’c’s’le). The crew of Geneve were super heroes from Chili City who defended against the evil chili stealers. It was a great night of crew bonding, and everyone went to bed looking forward to more fun tomorrow!
