Delta 1 Trip Update Day 12 – Kieran, Program Director
Today we woke up to go to Cockleshell Beach for a morning packed full of water sports! Everyone had a chance to water ski, wake board, and wake skate, and even go for an epic ride aboard the four person “bandwagon”! The choppy seas kept us on our toes (and sometimes in the air). It was a great morning filled with time spent relaxing on the beach, building a shelter out of palm fronds, playing on the water trampoline, and getting our adrenaline fix with water sports.
After picnicking on the beach we hopped back in Percy’s taxi, and took our time as we headed back to boats, stopping to take pictures of the vistas, and hearing stories about what St. Kitts used to look like 30 years ago, before certain parts of the island were built up by the tourist industry.
As soon as we got back to our boats, we immediately began our departure preparations, closing sea-cocks, topping off our water, and coming up with a plan for de-docking, before our skippers of the day — Nick aboard Groix and Morgan aboard Patricia J — took the helms for a tricky de-docking! We then set sail for a sleepy bay on the southern end of St. Kitts: Whitehouse Bay. After a challenging mooring due to the swirly winds and irregular mooring balls, we settled in for boat showers and a delicious fish stir-fry dinner.
Another long, but satisfying day finished, we sat and contemplated the lights of Basseterre as they stretched in to the hills ten miles off of our stern.
