Alpha 1 Trip Update Day 12 – Katelynn, Captain
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! We began our holiday with some tasty breakfast burritos, then spent the morning watersporting, snorkeling, and exploring the beach on Guana Island. We got to see some colorful fish, and Bronte dropped a ski and skiied on only one ski! Following these successes we said “goodbye” to Monkey Point and motored to Long Bay for… the Sail Caribbean Olympics! Isle of Skye and team sludge battled it out on shore in a snorkel gear fender relay, tug of war, kayak race, synchronized swimming competition, and bury-your-captain-sand-sculpting contest. After the activities were finished, we motored over to Trellis Bay, where Isle of Skye did a blindfolded mooring ball pickup, which required the best teamwork and communication possible. Great job! After rushing through dinner cleanup, we were super excited to go ashore and hang out with all the fleets and the moko jumbie dancers to celebrate the Fourth of July! It was a great second to last day on the water, but we are getting sad to have to leave soon.
