Alpha 1 Trip Update Day 9 – Crew of Isle of Skye
Ahoy maties, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBYN!! We kicked off our day here on Isle of Skye with a dive to the wreck of the Rhone. Right when we arrived at the wreck, we received some surprise visitors: dolphins, and a reef shark! We grabbed our snorkel gear as quickly as we could, and jumped in to swim with our new friends. When we descended to the wreck everybody had a chance to rub the lucky porthole. Sadly, we had to come back out of the water, but we were excited to get sailing again! After a quick lunch under motor with Bronte as our skipper of the day, we raised sails and headed upwind to Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor. Underway, we got to see some sea turtles swimming around, and Mark taught us a new hydration game. We also practiced knot tying, and even furled the main sail in under a minute! Bronte successfully docked us bow-to, and after a quick cleanup we hopped off the boat to hit the shops. We poked around in the shops for a bit, then returned to the boat so Madison and Robyn could cook chicken and veggie stir fry. After dinner was cleaned up, we went to shore for some virgin drinks and island music. The band played “Happy Birthday” for Robin, and we danced around for a little bit before heading back to the boats for a celebratory oreo and nutella cake! During boat meeting on the bow, we had some surprise guests from Planet G who told us that tomorrow would be Challenge Day! We are very excited to be taking over the boat completely on our own tomorrow!
