Delta 1 Trip Update Day 6 – Kieran, Program Director
Today we woke up for a quick breakfast, some frenzied lunch-making, and gathering together snorkel and hiking gear. We all got aboard the SeaSABA dive company’s vessel which was our “water taxi” ashore. The fun divers immediately went out on a dive with SeaSABA, while the DSD (Discover Scuba Divers) went up to a pool in town on the island in order to practice skills. Meanwhile, our non-divers set out on an expedition: to climb the tallest point of the Dutch Empire…which happens to be Saba!
After their successful and busy day of activities, everyone headed back to boats. It was late afternoon by the time everyone made it back, but we still had time for an optional snorkel (but not free-diving post dives) out at the northwesternmost point of Saba near Diamond Rock. The rock formations out there are astounding, and filled with all sorts of nooks and crannies in which all variety of sea life can be found.
All in all, it was an incredibly successful day. All are excited to spend some more time ashore tomorrow, getting to know some of the locals and exploring town. And of course, we have to buy secret ingredients for our Chile Cook-Off tomorrow night!!
