Charlie 1 Trip Update Day 3 – Robb Kirchner, Captain & Assistant Program Director

Today was our first full day off docks!  Charlie divers went to the world renowned wreck of the Rhone today to complete section 1 of their wreck specialty section of their Advanced Open Water. Megan L.’s highlight of the day was seeing 2 turtles in a row, while Annie loved seeing a baby spotted moray eel.  It was the first time diving the Rhone for most students and has already become many of their favorite site. Buoyant Asset enjoyed a relaxing morning on Cooper Island before de-mooring and sailing to The Bight on Norman Island.

Meanwhile Venture had an awesome sail over to the The Bight on Norman Island. On the 3 hour journey they learned about downwind sailing and how to tie the most important sailing knot: the bowline. As the students on venture were securing the seconday on the mooring line, a 5ft shark-like tarpin swam below.  Both Charlie boats enjoyed a fantastic dinner of salad, cous cous and BBQ chicken while watching a beautiful sunset over the U.S. Virgin Islands.
